So our comeback dinner came, and flew by in the blink of an eye – which is what always happens when you’re surrounded by wonderful people, having great conversations and a tasty good time. We were happy to have such great guests around our table once more and are already looking forward to the next night with Como en Casa.
Meanwhile, here come some pictures to remember how we spent this beautiful day and evening.
Every good feast needs a little bit of preparation. So Fulanita & Menganita had a fun time preparing the table decoration and tying up some little gifts our guests could take home as a souvenir.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen (at the lovely temperature of, uhmm, 42° C), Mr. Fulano was all into chopping and roasting and dough-kneading to prepare some great food for the night…
Roast sweet potatoes for the filling of some delicious cappelletti…
Tasty cherry tomatoes to prepare the salsa for the main course…
Green beans from the market for the appetizer…
… crunchy caramelized almonds for topping a creamy chocolate dessert.
Uh, and did we mention that Mr. Fulano’s homemade pasta is the bomb? 🙂
And while a “nice and refreshing” summer storm decided to pop by to say hello as well (weather, we love you!), we started preparing an equally refreshing welcome drink: a Pimm’s Royal tea Punch involving Pimm’s N°1, Gin, Early Grey syrup and sage (recipe coming soon!).
Fortunately, the rain stopped just in time for the arrival of our guests, so we could have our drinks in a nearby park.
Time to take a seat! And for a greeting from the kitchen: tasty bites of parmesan mousse paired with roasted bread and tomato carpaccio.
The appetizer consisted of green asparagus (the last one for this year, since it was the last day of the asparagus season), green pea purée, vermouth sauce, topped with scallop.
For each dish, Mr. Fulano had prepared matching wines, some of which he had taken with from our italian holidays the week before.
The homemade cappelletti were stuffed with roast sweet potatoes and served with a sauce of coconut and lemongrass…
… and finally, the main dish arrived – our beloved Schiefer Turm, a leaning tower of fried pasta with layers of devil fish, pumpkin, tomato-basil-salsa, topped with a pesto made with sardines and capers. Almost all portions managed to remain in vertical position for at least thirty seconds 😉
Last but not least: the sweet side of life joined! The dessert for the night was a fluffy white chocolate mousse with fresh strawberries and crunchy almond cracknel (the finished version of which I did’t manage to take a shot of ;).
Once more, we had a lovely time with our guests, great conversations, lots of interesting exchange and even more laughter – even a surprise birthday cake popped in at midnight! Many thanks to everyone who was brave enough to face the adventure of an underground dinner with a surprise menu in an unknown place with complete strangers. It was great to have all of you with us!
And by the way – the next dinner date is up already! We’ll have an argentinian Asado under the stars – find more info HERE.
